Diana Taurasi, Sue Bird, Angel McCoughtry: WNBA Power Rankings from August 16 games – Part 2
Phoenix Mercury vs. Seattle Storm
Diana Taurasi
Diana Taurasi racked up 24 points, including a game-winning driving shot with 6.3 seconds left on the clock as Phoenix Mercury notched up an 81-79 triumph over Seattle Storm and snapped a nine-game losing streak against them.
In addition to a game-high 24 points, Taurasi grabbed five rebounds, dished out four assists and stole the ball twice. Phoenix’s shooting guard finished on a 7 for 21 shooting from the field, including 2 for 6 from downtown and a perfect 8 for 8 from free throw line.
Penny Taylor
Penny Taylor contributed 16 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals in Mercury’s 14th victory of the current season. The 30-year-old forward went 5 for 8 from the floor and 5 for 6 from the line.
Candice Dupree
Phoenix’s power forward Candice Dupree also racked up 16 points for her team on an 8 for 15 shooting from the field.
Sue Bird
Sue Bird scored 23 points and dished out a game best eight assists in Seattle’s second consecutive defeat. The seven-time WNBA All-Star went 9 for 16 from the floor clinched 4 for 4 free throws in more than 37 minutes. However she turned over the ball in the clutch and Diana Taurasi made her team pay dearly for it.
Camille Little
Storm’s forward Camille Little posted 16 points on 7 for 9 nine shooting from the field. The player also pulled down four rebounds and dished out three assists in the loss.
Atlanta Dream vs. Los Angeles Sparks
Angel McCoughtry
Angel McCoughtry had a strong all-around game with 23 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals in the Atlanta Dream’s 84-79 victory over Los Angeles Sparks. The 6 ft 1 in forward, who is averaging 20.1 points and 4.9 rebounds per game in this season, shot 8 for 15 from the floor and 7 for 10 from free throw line.
Erika de Souza
Erika de Souza recorded a terrific double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds in Dream’s second consecutive win.  The 29-year-old centre also stole the ball three times and ended with 9 for 15 from the field.
Lindsey Harding
Atlanta’s point guard Lindsey Harding scored 12 points, on a 6 of 8 shooting, contributed five assists and clutched three rebounds in more than 35 minutes on the floor.
DeLisha Milton
DeLisha Milton totalled 19 points, four rebounds and two blocks for Los Angeles, who saw their two-game winning streak halted. Milton was 8 for 15 from the field, pinning 2 for 4 shots from downtown.
