Phoenix Mercury’s guard Diana Taurasi had a phenomenal 2011 regular season. Taurasi finished the season with an average of 21.6 points, 3.6 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game and reached the double figures in 31 of the 32 games
she played during the season.
The Don Antonio Lugo High School’s product was voted in by basketball fans as one of the Top 15 players in the fifteen-year history of the league during the All-Star weekend and she was also a top candidate for the MVP award last
regular season.

July 5, 2011 – Phoenix Mercury vs. Los Angeles Sparks
Diana Taurasi racked up a team-high 20 points, including 13 in the first half of the game, as Phoenix Mercury turned a big run into a huge one, running away from the Los Angeles Sparks for a 101-82 victory on July 5 at the US Airways
Center.
The two-time WNBA MVP handed out seven assists and grabbed four rebounds in the victory. She was 5 for 11 from the field, including 3 for 6 from three-point range and a perfect 7 for 7 from free throw line.
June 24, 2011 – Phoenix Mercury vs. Atlanta Dream
On June 24 at the Philips Arena, Taurasi headed Phoenix to a 92-83 victory over the Eastern Conference Defending Champion Atlanta Dream. The five-time WNBA All-Star led Mercury with 20 points on 7 for 10 shooting from the floor.
Taurasi, who was selected as first overall in the 2004 WNBA Draft by Phoenix, pulled down eight rebounds and blocked three main shots in the victory. The player hit 3 of 3 shots from downtown and pinned 3 of 3 free throws in more
than 28 minutes on court.
August 11, 2011 – Phoenix Mercury vs. Atlanta Dream
On August 11, the Dream arrived at the US Airways Center to avenge their last defeat against Phoenix. Taurasi however came in their way again as Mercury clinched a 109-95 victory. She chipped in with 21 points, dished out five
assists and grabbed three rebounds.
The three-time NCAA National Champion went 7 for 13 from the field, 3 for 7 beyond the arc and 4 for 4 from the free throw line.
Trailing by 11 points after three, Atlanta made a comeback in the fourth quarter and trimmed their deficit to seven, 87-80 early. Taurasi however took the charge at that point and nailed a three-pointer to stretch mercury’s lead
back to double figures.
