July 28, 2011 - Phoenix Mercury vs. San Antonio Silver Stars
Diana Taurasi posted a team-high 27 points in Phoenix Mercury’s 102-91 defeat to San Antonio Silver Stars on July 28, 2011 at AT&T Center.
Taurasi also dished out four assists, hitting an impressive 7 for 11 from the field and a perfect 11 for 11 from free throw line. Taurasi scored 11 of her points in the second quarter however; she could not handle San Antonio’s
Becky Hammon down the stretch.
July 13, 2011 - Phoenix Mercury vs. Minnesota Lynx
Taurasi scored 27 points, including five 3-pointers, as Mercury clinched sole possession of first place in the Western Conference with a 112-105 victory over Minnesota Lynx on July 13 at Target Center.
Taurasi also dished out eight assists in the victory. The 29-year-old guard chipped in 12 of her points in the first half, including a three-pointer right at the buzzer, to cut Mercury’s deficit to one, 49-48, at halftime.
Lynx rallied to take a 103-102 lead on Lindsay Whalen’s lay-up with 01:11 to go in the fourth quarter but Penny Taylor responded with a pair of free throws to put Mercury ahead by one and Taurasi followed her with two of her free
throws to push their lead to 107-103.
August 7, 2011 - Phoenix Mercury vs. Connecticut Sun
Although a must-win game slipped out of Phoenix’s grasp in the very last minute of the overtime, but Taurasi managed to put up an upright performance. Taurasi topped all the scorers with 29 points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished
out six assists in their one-point, 96-95, defeat to Connecticut Sun at US Airways Center.
The two-time WNBA Champion scored 16 points of her points in the first half, including 12 in the opening period, to help Mercury secure a 46-41 advantage at halftime. On the night, the guard pinned 10 of 10 free throws in more
than 37 minutes of action.
Trailing by 97-94 with three minutes to go in the O.T., Taurasi drilled a jumper to put her team within one, 97-96. However, she missed a jumper with one second remaining in overtime that could have given her team the victory.
