Atletico Madrid defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879 Diaz, is hoping club coach, Diego Simeone, will stay at the Vicente Calderon for a long time to come.
Since his arrival from Getafe in the summer, the player has not featured much for the Madrid-based club as there is stiff competition for a position in the starting line-up.
However, that did not stop him to shower words of praise on his fellow countryman and boss, Simeone.
At a media centre, Diaz commented on the impact his coach made on the club. He said Simeone proved himself and silenced all critics based on his record at the club.
The Argentine has no doubt that Simeone has truly transformed the mentality of the whole team since he is a tactician who has vision for this football club.
“I think Simeone has proved his worth with numbers and titles. He changed the mentality of all the players and it shows on the field and in the locker room.”
“I do not think his renewal is in question. The team is well and the players believe in the project.”
The 33-year-old then talked about his fight for position in the team.  He remarked on how it felt playing on the left-back position in the 4-1 loss to the current Primera Division leaders, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604.
He admitted that it was a strange feeling for him playing as a left-back but understands that it was something he had to do since the team needed him there.
“It felt a little strange to be playing at fullback but the Coach and the team needed me there.”
Moreover, the former Getafe man discussed the possibility of winning silverware in this season with Atletico. He fully understands that it will be a tough task for them since there are other teams with more firepower than them in the league.
“I don’t know if it will be the league or not, but we want to win a title. There are rivals with weapons, but we must handle our business.”
The Rojiblancos are currently sitting on the second position. Next match in the Primera Division, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vicente-c36001 Calderon.
