Phillip Cocu took over the managerial hot seat at Philips Stadion from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fred-c14136 Rutten earlier this year and has done well to keep his side in contention for a second spot finish.
With six points left to play for in the 2011/12 campaign, the Eindhoven giants are currently placed third in the league standings, only a point behind the second placed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 Rotterdam.
The club management wanted to keep Cocu as their head coach in the 2012/13 season as well, but the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 player refused to lead PSV after the ongoing season, leaving the club with no choice but to appoint a new coach before the start of the 2012/13
campaign.
Advocaat has revealed that the Eindhoven giants have plenty of potential to win silverware though there is still a lot of work needed before they can achieve glory.
“http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 approached me a few weeks ago to see whether I was interested and I gave them a positive answer. What matters for me is the potential of the team, and this PSV has plenty of potential. There is still work to do, though. We will discuss that in the next
few weeks. I want to play for silverware”, the 64-year-old tactician concluded.
The Dutchman managed to guide PSV to silverware in his previous tenure and would be looking to go one step farther this term.
