The Boeren head coach, d**k Advocaat, was extremely delighted following his side’s win, but he insisted that his side failed to take full advantage of their numerical superiority over AZ in the opening half.
The Alkmaar outfit were reduced to ten-man within 10 minutes of play, when Etienne Reijnen received his marching orders in the eighth minute of the match after getting booked twice in quick succession.
PSV broke the deadlock in the 11th minute through Tim Matavz. However, Adam Maher surprisingly restored parity near the half-hour mark. Despite an extra man on the field, the Eindhoven giants failed to assert their authority
until the half-time break.
Advocaat, who took the reins of PSV earlier this summer, was disappointed with his side’s abysmal display in the opening 45 minutes, and admitted that they failed to take full advantage of their numerical superiority over the Alkmaar
outfit.
“We failed to make good use of the numerical advantage in the first half. We were sloppy in possession and AZ comfortably held out”, the veteran Dutch trainer was quoted as saying to the club’s official website.
The Eindhoven giants resumed proceedings in the second-half as a completely different side, and put immense pressure on the AZ defence. Eventually, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mark-van-Bommel-c24148 managed to restore his side’s lead in the 54th minute.

seven minutes from time, to put the match to bed. Atiba Hutchinson’s strike in the injury time completed an impressive 5-1 win over AZ.
Advocaat revealed that he made few tactical changes during the half-time break, and admitted that his side deservingly claimed all three points at home.
“We made some tactical changes at half-time. When Van Bommel had restored the lead, we scored four fine goals and recorded a 5-1 win”, the Dutch trainer concluded.
