The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991 boss has expressed disappointment at his side’s abysmal showing against Jan Wouters’ men, while open heartedly admitting that the Utreg deserved to bag three points.
PSV Eindhoven head coach, d**k Advocaat, was extremely disappointed with his side’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Utrecht-c39237 at Galgenwaard Stadion on Sunday, September 16.
The veteran tactician admitted that his troops failed to get going against the Utreg’s aggressive approach right from the kick-off.
“I could already see that things were going wrong after only five minutes. We were unable to find the answer to their opportunistic style of play”, Advocaat was quoted as saying to the club’s official website.
The former Russia boss went on to acknowledge that the outfit from Utrecht deserved to claim all three points.
“I won’t start looking for excuses. FC Utrecht fully deserved their win”, Advocaat added.
The Utreg commenced proceedings aggressively, and put pressure on the Eindhoven giants’ back-line consistently. However, they failed to create any goalscoring opportunity of note in the opening 45 minutes of play.
The home side came close to breaking the deadlock moments after the hour mark, but http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Przemyslaw-Tyton-c30175, made a brilliant save to deny Mike van der Hoorn’s header from close range.
In the 69th minute, the Utreg went down to 10-men when Anouar Kali received his marching orders following his second bookable offence. However, only two minutes later, the hosts broke the deadlock through Dave Bulthuis.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alexander-Gerndt-c4831 was shown a straight red-card in the 81st minute, which made life further worse for Jan Wouters’ side to defend their lead. However, they still managed to keep their one-goal
lead intact until the full time whistle.
Advocaat was clearly upset with his side’s erratic show on the pitch, and admitted that his troops lacked the fighting spirit.
“We lacked fighting spirit and sharpness. Some of the players even looked tired. We thought that we’d solved our problems after the away game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Groningen-c39119, but we couldn’t be more wrong. We simply cannot continue on this
path. We will have to start looking for the solution once more”, Advocaat concluded.
PSV will lock horns against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 in their upcoming league encounter on September 23.
