Dickie´s Lad favourite for Stellar Group Handicap
Dickie´s Lad has been rated as favourite for the Stellar Group Handicap at Chester in England on Wednesday, May 9, 2012. A cash prize of £14,177 has been set for the winner of the class-2 event.
The speed of all runners will be tested, as the distance to cover is only 5 furlongs and 16 yards. The going is expected to be soft in the race, which is scheduled to start at 15:05 GMT.
A total of 15 entries had been named for the race and their names are as follows: Dickie´s Lad, Confessional, Lexi´s Hero, Tax Free, Arctic Feeling, Falasteen, Foxy Music, Fitz Flyer, Blue Jack, Doctor Parkes, Star Rover, Partner, Bathwick Bear, Living It
Large and Jamesway.
Out of the above mentioned runners, Jamesway is likely to miss out, which will be a big blow for his team. The four-year-old gelding has won a couple of races out of 19 attempts and could have managed to secure another victory today.
However, the situation now looks good for Dickie´s Lad, who has won the best odds for victory at Chester. His recent performances have been impressive, which will encourage the punters to place maximum number of bets in his favour.
The four-year-old gelding has taken part in seven races until now, winning only once. In addition to that, he has also secured three runners up positions, which shows that he is capable of challenging his rivals for victories.
In his most recent run, the Kevin Ryan’s trainee finished second by just a nose distance. He started as the favourite to win, but was unable to meet the expectations of the bookies. However, he has got another chance to regain the confidence of everyone.
Dickie´s Lad will be partnered by Phillip Makin, who is a seasoned rider and has won quite a few races at this level. His strike rate is not much impressive though, which means that he requires being a lot more consistent.
On the other hand, Confessional is an experienced runner and has the ability to fight for victory at Chester. He has taken part in 34 events until now, winning three of them.
Overall, the battle between the top two favourites seems to be too close and anyone of them might finish on top of the table today.
