Dicky Palyama and Wan Ho Shon advance to meet in the round of 16 at German Open GP Gold 2011
In the second round of the German Open GP Gold 2011, Dicky Palyama of the Netherlands defeated Israeli Misha Zilberman, as the Korean Wan Ho Shon, outclassed the Italian Taufiq Hidayat Akbar, at Mulheim, Germany today.
The Dutch shuttler won his match against Misha after a close fight of three sets that took 50 minutes of quality play from both sides. In the following match, the Korean thrashed the Italian in straight games by spending 37 minutes in the court. Both winners
will meet against each other tomorrow in the round of 16.
The number nine seed Palyama, was seriously taken by the un-seeded Misha, in the first set of the match, as the Israeli stunned the Dutch player. Misha was perfect in all departments of the game, as Palyama trailed behind his aggressive opponent during the
whole set, losing the opening game by a clear margin of 15-21.
In the second game, Palyama increased the speed of the game, but remained unsuccessful to take a comfortable lead. Misha remained close till the one minute break, but the Dutch player employed his technical and tactical skills to dominate the opponent and
win the set by a slight difference of 21-18. The third game was a one-sided fight, as the Dutch player proved his worth by crushing the opponent with a big margin of 21-6. Palyama took 50 minutes to beat Misha after working very hard.
In another match, the number seven seed Shon of Korea, won his second round match against the Italian, Akbar, in straight games. In the opening game, Akbar played good badminton, but it was not enough to beat the Korean, who won the first set by a narrow
margin of 21-19. In the second game, Shon maintained a comfortable lead throughout the set and spared no opportunity for the opponent to fight back in the match. The number seven seed won the game by a decent margin of 21-15. The match took 37 minutes and
the final score was 21-19 and 21-15.
