Dicky Palyama topples Raul Must in Men’s Singles first round of the 2011 Dutch Open Grand Prix
Netherlands’ second seed Dicky Palyama has made the home crowd happy, as he toppled Estonia’s Raul Must in the Men’s Singles first round of the 2011 Dutch Open Grand Prix, in Netherlands, on Wednesday, October 12.
The World Number 43, Palyama, who is the sixth seed in the Men’s Singles draw of the tournament, played incredible badminton in his opening match and won it in straight games by working for just 27 minutes in the court.
Raul failed to get rid of the attacking game of his local opponent and lost the match in a one-sided way. He failed to find a finishing touch in his strokes and bowed down without putting up any resistance in both games.
The higher ranked Dutch shuttler started his journey in the home event in a remarkable way. His convincing victory in the opening round shows that he is ready to gun down the seeded shuttlers in the event.
Palyama started his campaign in a surprising way as he took no time in setting up a wonderful lead. His movement was quite smooth in the court and he was taking the bird from all areas without putting extra effort. His sharp reflexes helped him in taking
the bird early at the net and execute tumbling net strokes.
The Dutch shuttler continued his roller-coaster run in the first set by playing fast and composed game. His perfectly executed strokes disturbed the flow of his opponent and earned him a considerable lead. Palyama clinched the first game with a terrific
margin of 21-9 in 14 minutes.
The second set was identical as the local shuttler established an early lead and maintained it throughout the game. The fast drops coupled with spinning net strokes helped Palyama to maintain pressure on his opponent. He remained focused and won the game
in a superb manner with a 21-9 score in just 13 minutes.
Palyama cheered the home fans by winning the match with a 21-9 and 21-9 score in just 27 minutes.
