Dicky Palyama trounces Scott Evans to surge into Men’s Singles semi-final at Dutch Open Grand Prix
Netherland’s Dicky Palyama, one of the most experienced shuttlers in the world of badminton, showed his elevated class on court and eased into Men’s Singles semi-final after trouncing Ireland’s Scott Evans in quarter-final showdown at Yonex Dutch Open Grand Prix in Netherlands, on Friday, October 12.
The higher ranked Palyama, who is seeded at number eight in the Men’s Singles main draw, played to his maximum potential and managed to thrash his Irish challenger who was positioned at number 10 in the tournament.
Palyama was at his best when he played remarkable badminton and did not face any trouble all the way against Evans and ended up the match in straight games with a crushing margin on score board.
On the other hand, the 10th seeded Evans failed to maintain his winning run on court as he could not play competitive badminton against his higher ranked Dutch opponent and easily crashed out with a huge margin in just 30 minutes.
In the opening game of this quarter-final contest, Palyama played with a superb speed in all areas of the court and remained successful in building up a huge lead on score board until the one-minute break.
After the mid-game break, Palyama remained on the right track and played with tremendous precision by injecting more speed into his shots and stretched his lead.
Dutch shuttler was in staggering form on court and he easily grabbed the first game without facing any trouble by a stunning 21-11 score on the board.
In the second set of this quarter-final match, Palyama did not let his challenger to find a good rhythm as he kept the pace of rallies at the highest level and remained successful in setting up a huge gap until the end of first half.
After the mid-game interval, Palyama continued his killing run on court without showing any mercy to his Irish challenger and easily ended up the second game with a margin of 21-10.
The in-form Palyama defeated Evans in a comprehensive manner by finishing off the contest in straight games by a staggering 21-11 and 21-10 score on the board.
