  1. No, Phil Carey is still alive and well, he was on OLTL last week as a ghost talking to Bo. He battled lung cancer but won! That is why he was gone for a while here a year and a half ago, when he came back, they wanted to take him off contract and he didnt agree to that so he left the show but will make appearances as Asa's spirit is needed to rally the gang!

  2. No, I don't think he died in real life.  I read somewhere recently that he would be back (maybe only in memories or something though).  I think the storyline will revolve around Bo and his relationship with his father.

  3. No, he died on screen, his Asa character but Mr. Carey is alive and well.  Problems with the writers etc.  the usual garbage.

  4. no he did not he was sick in the beginning of last summer with lung cancer complications and didnt sign a new contract with the show..do you know I actually have an old John Wayne Movie that he stared in ..I will always love that ol coot asa

  5. No he is still alive and kicking. He was just on last week as Bo dealt with his "Pa" issues. It was wonderful to see Asa again!

  6. Good news is no he did not pass away. Phil left the show and the show wanted to honor his character and the actor by killing off the character because honestly they felt there could be no other person to play Asa Buchanan. Recently OLTL did a 2 day special show to celebrate their 40th anniversary and Vikki died and went to "heaven" and she met Asa up there. The Phil Carey came back just for that show so it was really nice to see him because I truly always loved Asa Buchanan. I hope this helps make you feel better.

  7. No he didn't. He is still alive and kickin!

How else would he be making these cameo appearances?

  8. No, I don't think so.  He was just on last week where he was talking to Bo at the ranch.  I don't believe they brought him back from the actual dead to play a ghost.

  9. Nah - Phil Carey had been trying to retire for years, but OLTL didn't want to let him go. Then he came down with cancer and had to be off the show for quite awhile for recovery purposes. After that, it was a little hard for them to tell him he couldn't retire. So they killed off Asa (no one else could Ever!! play that part), and they'll probably bring him back periodically as a ghost.  Gotta love that Asa - even when he's being bad, which is most of the time.

  10. late March 2007, it was announced that Carey (asa)  would be exiting One Life to Live Carey turned down an offer to go to recurring status with the show. His character of Asa died off-screen four months later.[
