Did America provide the Texians with cannons and rifles to fight the Mexican army during and after the Alamo?

  1. No.  Officially, there was no aid from the American government.  Many Americans did come to texas during that time and several fought in the Texas Revolution.  If I'm correct, many of the cannons they had were taken from the Mexican army at various posts.  The rifles were owned by the Texans themselves.  At this time in the US, there was a large debate on whether or not Texas would be annexed, so no government policy would have given aid to the Texans' cause.
