Did Anyone Get Hit By Tropical Storm Fay?

I heard she was strong in South Florida, but now she is getting weaker. I also heard she has killed 4 people with flooding. I live in Jacksonville and we are getting some light rain and wind right now but they said heavy rain is coming. They cancelled school yesterday and today. They haven't said if they're cancelling tomorrow. Is she going to hit us?

  1. i live in s florida. fay wasn't as bad for us as it is in central fl because it went over so quickly here. all that stalling that it is doing up there is causing major flooding.

  2. As you can see now, it's not that bad here in Jax. School and government jobs are closed at least through tomorrow, this darn storm is moving so slow that we were supposed to get the worst of it yesterday but wont until tomorrow.

Edit- It is now the day after i posted the original response- and as of now my house is flooding in from all of the walls. Please pray it stops soon!!

  3. not i didnt gt hit and i hope u dont get hit either

  4. Jacksonville, and much of northern Florida, will get hit by tropical storm Fay.  The winds will be little if any factor, but the main problems will be heavy rain and flooding.  That is one of the factors that you don't hear a lot about.  So much attention is paid to the winds, but actually, inland flooding is the greatest killer from a tropical system.  Right now the center of Fay is essentially along the coast south of Jacksonville.  You'll get periods of rain and gusty winds, likely for at least another day or so as Fay is not going to move much through tonight.
