  1. Yes, off the coast of Greese.

  2. the truth, once again i repeat myself, is that we just don't know. Plato is our only source for Atlantis, so there is real way of knowing whether or not he made it up. as to it's location, it wasn't Greece at all. Plato placed it '...beyond the Pillars of Hercules', which would indicate the Atlantic ocean (no prizes for guessing where the ocena got it's name from).

  3. Yes.  This is a fact.

The city and state of Atlantis were located in Andalucia, 50 kilometers southwest of Seville (Spain).

  4. Yes!

  5. there is no real answer i have for you on this question..... i would say yes but on the other hand i would say no the reason i would say no is that if it did there should be some sort of answer that would give the key thing we needed to find where it was but on the other hand it could very well have been a true royal city once upon a time and the true reason that it did sink to the bottom of a ocean is the fact that it did indeed exist except it existed on a line in which was split ed when all of the world split ed apart for each other and became individual Continent's

  6. No.

  7. It most certainly did and I can prove it, take one bottle of rough sherry and mix with one bottle of Methylated spirits shake vigorously, tip up to your lips, s***w up your eyes, clench the cheeks of your bottom and swallow. Hey presto, Atlantis revealed, as well as unicorns, flying pigs, UFOs and honest politicians.

  8. yes, but Cosmo sunk it

  9. yes in the coast of greece the proof is also there

  11. Some years ago (2002) a book has been published in Italy: "Le colonne d'Ercole - un'inchiesta" (a sort of report about the Pillars of Hercules) by the italian journalist Sergio Frau.

Assuming that the Pillars can't have always been in the Strait of Gibraltar, the writer re-reads the ancient texts about Atlantis and comes to the hypothesis that the legendary island could have been Sardinia.

I'm not an expert to say whether this assumption is correct or not, but I'm from Sardinia and find it really fascinating.

  12. Atlantis (in Greek, Ἀτλαντὶς νῆσος, "island of Atlas") is the name of a legendary island first mentioned in Plato's dialogues Timaeus and Critias.[1]

In Plato's account, Atlantis, lying "beyond the Pillars of Hercules", was a naval power that conquered many parts of Western Europe and Africa 9,000 years before the time of Solon, or approximately 9500 BC. After a failed attempt to invade Athens, Atlantis sank into the ocean "in a single day and night of misfortune".

As a story embedded in Plato's dialogues, Atlantis is generally seen as a myth created by Plato to illustrate his political theories[citation needed]. Although the function of the story of Atlantis seems clear to most scholars, they dispute whether and how much Plato's account was inspired by older traditions. Some scholars argue Plato drew upon memories of past events such as the Thera eruption or the Trojan War, while others insist that he took inspiration from contemporary events like the destruction of Helike in 373 BC or the failed Athenian invasion of Sicily in 415–413 BC.

The possible existence of a genuine Atlantis was actively discussed throughout classical antiquity, but it was usually rejected and occasionally parodied by later authors. While little known during the Middle Ages, the story of Atlantis was rediscovered by Humanists in the Modern period. Plato's description inspired the utopian works of several Renaissance writers, like Francis Bacon's "New Atlantis". Atlantis inspires today's literature, from science fiction to comic books and films, its name having become a byword for any and all supposed prehistoric but advanced (and lost) civilizations.
