The foundation gives millions and millions of dollars to needy groups, buys computers for poor school districts etc..

Are you kidding?  That's Melinda's full time job...running the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.  Granted, he had to be browbeaten into giving initially, but now they give away millions, if not billions.

Are you kidding me?! He is one of the biggest philanthropists (charitable persons) in the world. He has the Gates foundation which is managed by his wife Melinda Gates. Its main focus is to expand educational oppurtunities and access to information technology but also works towards different health programs. Warren Buffett (second richest guy in the world) has pledged about 44 billion almost all of his wealth to the foundation. Have you not heard of the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation??? They have given millions to school systems to help get computers to schools and children who can't afford them!! They have also donated money to countries in Africa to vaccinate thousands of children who need them.  That's one of the reasons that he's stepping down as CEO of Microsoft to run the foundation on a full time basis.
