  1. I think that would be very obvious.

  2. prolly, there was no toothpaste

  3. Impossible to say w/o a time machine; but logically, their breath wouldn't have been too nice to smell.  that being said, early man did develop a knowledge of herbs and plants that likely exceeds our own, and could have some sort of paste to help protect their teeth or at least be less offensive to Mrs Caveman.

  4. They had to live close to water as that was the only way to have water so they bathed except maybe those who lived in cold weather. They chewed on sticks and knew the different types woods that would be helpful that way. People find ways, just lots of information has gotten lost because it wasn't written down and times change.

  5. Smell your breath and tell us.

  6. of course!! no toothpaste, no toothbrush...I think their teeth fell out before their 30's

  7. haha. wow u ask the most random questions but i love it!

yeahh they probably did. i mean when u see pictures of them they have brown rotten teeth yuck and they ate all this raw meat :O

    -shudders-

    :)

  8. No because the olfactory lobe weren't fully developed so they had no sense of smell.

Even if they could smell they had nose hairs that they tied in braids and couldn't smell anything.

  9. Teresa is correct, hygiene came into realization earlier than most would think. And the foods they ate wouldn't promote the horrible breath I've gotten a whiff of these days. The Romans scraped their tongues to control bad breath. I'll even wager that a caveman's dodo didn't stink as much as people's nowadays given the drugs, booze and foods we eat now.

Heres to the progression of civilization.

Kat T has polaroids of authentic cavemen?

  10. WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????????...

  11. I frequently study stone age & bronze age human remains. Generally their teeth are in decent nick, although worn down (bits of grit often got in their food causing abrasion.) I have seen a stunning set of perfect white teeth on a 4000 year old man--I admit I was envious, they were like  a movie star's teeth! The main problem back then was if you got a tooth absess--that of course would be excruciatingly painful and if it got into the bloodstream, could be fatal.

Teeth only got really horrid when sugary sweet things  became prevalent in the diet.

  12. Probably no more than the present human population. In fact, their teeth generally were in pretty good shape, unlike many modern humans who tend to lose their teeth early, because of high quantities of sugars and soft foods in their diet.

  13. Before toothbrushes, which were invented by Native Americans, people used to clean their teeth with picks and polish them with cloth strips.

Cavemen, like most people prior to the plentiful water and deodorant days of the early 1900's, had a higher tolerance for body and breath odors. However, their diets would have consisted of only organic foods and providing they were eating fibrous fruits and vegetables, their teeth may have been in pretty good shape.

  14. yes!!!

  15. I would say they not only had Stinky breath. They also had Stinky bodies.

  16. Yes. So do people today.
