  1. I think it is simply idiotic that she is not called Princess of Wales.  Either she is married to Prince Charles, or she isn't, and if she is married to him then she IS the Princess of Wales, no matter what she may be called.

  2. Traditionally, the wife of the Prince of Wales--however she comes by her "Mrs. Wales" status--holds the courtesy title "Princess of Wales".  Accordingly, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, is technically the present Princess of Wales.  However, she chooses not to use the title still associated with her predecessor, Lady Diana Spencer.

  3. Camilla is de facto Princess of Wales.

She chose to be known as 'Duchess of Cornwall', just as she could choose to be known as 'Duchess of Rothesay', etc. But she holds all styles and titles of the wife of the Prince of Wales.

Whether she had an option, is another question. I assume she took into consideration the feelings of Diana's sons. While WIlliam and Harry have stated for several occasions that 'they love Camilla to bits' and have displayed their affection for her more then once, they are still Diana's children, and Camilla might have wanted to honour her, or them, in such way. Besides, there were numerous Princess of Wales, but there is only 1 Duchess of Cornwall, so she will be in history.

If you ask me, I think yes, Camilla had the option. That was her choice.

  4. technically yes but they believed that the people still felt that the title belonged to Diana, so Camilla and Charles made the mutual decision to have her go by "Duchess of Cornwall".

  5. As the consort and wife of the Prince of Wales, Camilla legally holds the title and technical rank of Princess of Wales. Due to the fact that this style is so strongly associated with the late Diana, Princess of Wales, she elects, with the Queen's permission, to use the feminine form of her husband's subsidiary title, Duke of Cornwall, rather than Princess of Wales. However, in Scotland both Charles and Camilla are formally styled as Duke and Duchess of Rothesay, a title historically associated with heirs to the Scottish throne.

In addition, Clarence House has indicated that when Charles accedes the throne it is intended that she will use the title HRH The Princess consort. Commentators have pointed out that unless a specific Act of Parliament is passed to the contrary, she will, as a King's wife, legally be Queen, regardless of whether she uses that title or not.

  6. No not at all, especially after all the bad press the Queen got after Dianna's death, that title is probably now in the Royalty Hall of Fame, retired.

  7. technically she is, but then Charles has about 14 titles so she can choose to be called what she likes, and prefers Cornwall. Having been to the UK, I can't blame her - Cornwall is one of the most charming bits of it..

My view is that she sees the monarchy as a DISadvantage to Charles - she is clearly keen on the man rather than what he can give her materially, a pleasant change from some previous Princesses of Wales - eg Alexandra, later Queen, who had to be pulled into line by Queen Vic for endless extravagance.

The princess of Wales is merely shorthand for the wife of the heir apparent of the monarch.

  8. I guess she could have been, but then would it have been "in good taste".?

  9. No, because it would have been deemed too unsuitable as the late Princess Dianna was too beloved.  As the second wife to the heir apparent she had to be given a new and somewhat lower title.

  10. Technically she is Princess of Wales as wife of the Prince of Wales. She just chose to use a different title of her's that's all.

  11. she can b called wateva the h**l  she likes.

shes still a ugly old trollope
