Does anybody have footage that shows that Churandy Martina (Netherlands Antilles) ran over the line. Or was it only the American protesters that saw it ?

  1. IOC saw it too.

  2. Yeah I watched the replay : (.

  3. IOC saw it and Martina was disqualified, likewise runner who came third who did the same.

  4. Yes we got a picture where he steps on the line! But there are a couple of concerns here like:

    (1) Is stepping on the line the same as stepping outside your lane?

    (2) Did he had any material gain in doing what he did?

    (3) Did he visibly obstructed any other (U.S.) athlete?

Depending on the answers on these questions, the IAAF rule 163.4 could blow away that "DQ" from Churandy's name.

    The other big question is:

If e.g. the 7th man had touched the line, would the US had gone that far for getting him DQ'd as well? Or are they only after the medales?

My hope: The whole "DQ" thing for 200m be rectified and we get our only Silver medal ever back !

US head coach Bubba Thornton defended the protest.

"As we were studying the video for Wallace, it was brought to our attention that there may have been a violation in lane 6. We saw the violation and appealed that result. We then went through the rules process. We wanted to make sure that the results of the race were fair," he said.

I guess it was also "brought to their attention" that an appeal would bring in one more medal for the USA.....
