Question:

Did Circuit City change their name to "The City"?

I was walking by this circuit city today that i had never been to, and it was either brand new, or they were totally renovating it. When i looked at the sign, it said "The City", but it looked just like the Circuit City logo (red circle with white words). I'm positive it couldn't have been another store. Has Circuit City decided to change their name to simply, "The City"?

  1. I did a little checking around it doesn't look like they are changing it unless they are testing the name out, before making it public to see if it brings more customers?

Anyways, the website doesn't say anything, nor their investor News.

I also wrote Circuit City, for a more definite answer, though if it is non public info they may not even tell me.

So Yeah.  I'll let you know what there answer is if your question is still open.

    UPDATE:

    The City

"The City" is a new venture being taken on by Circuit City Stores, Inc. These new concept stores originated in Norfolk, Virginia and also opened one store in the Richmond Virginia market have proven to be very effective in helping Circuit City sales. Circuit City plans to open approximately 55 new stores by 2009, most of them being The City. The stores give customers a more hands-on experience with the products they plan to buy and assist the associates in giving the customers the best experience possible.[citation needed] Associate uniforms differ from those of traditional stores, associates wear black shirts with jeans rather than red uniform shirts with slacks at traditional locations. Associates are also equipped with Tablet PCs to assist customer's in making their purchase.
