Question:

Did Dean Laidley only apologise to the umpires to save getting a big fine?

Dean Laidley, coach of the Kangaroos, issued an apology to the umpires that had officiated in their loss to Hawthorne.

Earlier he'd said that the field umpires made innapropriate comments & gestures to his players during the game.

Whatever happened I'm glad Laidley brought it to attention - the umpires are becoming too big for the game & think they are little gods & think they are the centre of attention.

  1. Sounds that way

  2. Well it worked well adn good for Malthouse, who ranted and raved the other week, bagging the AFL and then apologised the next day. Sets a cool precedent!!

You b******s..... Oh sorry, didnt mean it!!! :P snigger

  3. Yes. For sure.

His club would have told him to apologise - once the message had been passed to the media by Laidley. Just as what was done last week with Mick Malthouse.

There has been many complaints about the umpires at the early part of this season. I can understand why - I reckon AFL umpiring is at a low ebb at the moment.

N.B. If they were allowed to continue running around in white - instead of sone up like neon light - & not wired so that TV viewers only heard them yelling, instead of the commentatore, maybe people wouldn't notice them so much & complain so much.

  4. Yes, which is stupid. He meant what he said as did Malthouse a few weeks ago, but they say an apology which the AFL made them do, and not mean it and get away without a fine.

  5. since what mick malthouse said two weeks ago and apologized and escaped a fine, anyone can do it now because it would be unfair now if laidley copped a fine.

  6. yeah i think so

  7. clever our coaches hey, mick is the master at it, look, they apologize but the message is still sent out to the footy public, the umpires hear it too, that why the week after malthouse whinged about the umps, his team was given some dubious free's in the forward line.

it is not sour grapes, collingwood were better in the first half for sure, they scored the same 7.7 each in the 2nd half.
