Did Dr. Carl Von Cosel (Carl Tanzler) kill Elizabeth Short (The Black Dahlia)?

Maria Elena Milagro (Tanzler's necro lifelong obsession) looks alot like Elizabeth Short. Look at the timeline below..The Police took Maria's corpse from his house in 1940...the photos of the Maria's actual corpse (with partial death mask) resemble the crime scene photos of Elizabeth Short. Perhaps he found someone that looked like the living Maria & "recreated" her to look like the dead Maria that he was more familiar with.

He moved to Florida in 1944, but could have gone to Los Angeles & happened upon this ill fated look-alike.

1931 Death of Maria Elena Milagro "Helen" de Hoyos in October. 1933 Removal of the body of Maria Elena Milagro de Hoyos to his home. 1934 Death of Crysta Tanzler, his daughter, from diphtheria. 1940 Arrest for desecration of a grave. 1940 Released on bond from jail on October 12.

1944 Moves to Pasco County, Florida near Zephyrhills, Florida. 1950 Receives United States citizenship in Tampa. 1952 Death of Carl Tanzler on July 23.

No one really knows the answer. There have been several "solvings" of the crime but they all require a lot of unsupported speculation.

He "could" have gone to LA, but remember this was 1944 with much internal travel severely restricted due to the War, he would have had to travel by train and yet there is no record of such a journey and no witnesses to testify he did so.

When we have perfected a Time Viewer Machine, perhaps we can dial back to that fateful night and find out the real truth.
