  1. would you see england in the finals with andy robinson as head coach. that answer it

  2. Well Ashton is the head coach of the side, so he should take some credit for that. However, there have been rumours that the players took control of the situation after the 36-0 defeat to SA, and this was the catalyst for change. Paul Ackford said in his column he had been told the coaching situation at the start of the tournament was shambolic. Thsi changed after the players meeting.

Ashton has not denied the importance of this meeting, but has said that this is part of his coaching strategy - he merely gives the players the framework within which to play, and the rest is up to them.

Phil Vickery - who has emerged as Ashtons closest ally in the England set up - has praised Ashtons contribution, while stating the players should take their share of the credit for the turnaround too. Dallaglio has said much the same, but has emphasised the players contribution more than Ashtons.

My feeling is that the senior players contributed more than Ashton, but his role within the camp was still important.

  3. My understanding is that he took over a failing team.So I guess it's got to be because of him.  This time round he has a chance of building his own. Hope we win a lot more!

  4. He had a bit of a rough go, but is still an important member of the side.
