I saw a baseball card from 2001 picturing Hinske in a Cubs uniform and the position said pitchers? Was he originally a pitcher in the minors? If memory serves me correct he came up as a 3B with the Blue Jays.

  1. He was drafted and signed by the Cubs in 1998 but was traded to the A's, who then traded him to the Blue Jays where he made his MLB debut.

I've been looking and can't find anything about him ever being a pitcher, not even in college. Maybe the card is an error. Does it have pitching stats on the back or hitting stats?

EDIT: It must be a typo. I found some of his other rookie cards, all have him listed as third baseman.  Also found his minor league stats. He never pitched there either.

  2. No, but Rick Ankiel did.

  3. Uh no. He came up with the Jays but was drafted with the Cubs but he wasnt a pitcher.
