Pretty much. That's why we're an independent nation now. The European immigrants didn't agree with the way England wanted to run the country and the colonies they lived in.

Europeans originally came to a NEW WORLD which had no government. Therefore, they DID need to make their own rules and fight for the freedom to enact them. They wrote and supported those rules to keep their civilized society progressive and so admired that all the POOR people of the world want to live here.

They also learned English, worked hard, and did what most immigrants today don't do--They Became CITIZENS.

Beginning in the late 1600's Europeans came. America was not created until much later. As we won our independence and became a sovereign nation, we created our constitution. Those are the rules you refer to.

So yes in the end we did what every other new nation did. We created our laws.

Actually, at first it was because of gold.  Then because they wanted to start colonies to raise tobacco, cotton, sugar, etc.  Then because of religious persecution.  Then because of war in their own countries.  Then because of famine.  Then because of more war in their countries.  Then finally because we have good paying jobs.  Don't worry though, they'll eventually leave because the good paying jobs can't afford to stay here with all the taxation.
