Did FIFA 12 dominate United Kingdom PC Charts? Or did it disappoint?
Recent weeks have seen plenty of movement in the positions of United Kingdom’s PC sales charts and once again that trend has continued as a number of titles, both old and some new, have swapped places.
Interestingly enough, the previous week saw the launch of Electronic Arts’ FIFA 12 and Ubisoft’s A Game of Thrones: Genesis. The question on everyone’s mind is that which one came out on top?
Kicking things off from the number 10 position and it seems World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, the previous occupant, has fallen off into the dark abyss; instead, The Sims continue their reign over the charts with The Sims 3: Late Night falling down a few places
and taking its spot.
Previous week’s best selling game on PCs, F1 2011, seems to have crashed into a barrier and is nearly out of the race as it slipped a massive eight spots to the number nine spot.
Football Manager 2011 seems to be nearing the sack from the top 10 as it continues its slow and steady decline in sales figures, as another Sims title, The Sims: Medieval, settles into the number seven spot.
A Game of Thrones: Genesis did not manage to break into the top five spots, but it still managed to amass enough sales to land itself at number six. One can expect sales of the game to increase when the second season of its television series is released.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, may only have had a brief stint at the top spot, but the game is still selling on a very consistent basis as it is still in the top five positions in the charts, standing at number five.
Proving that augmentations can prolong life and bring prosperity is Square Enix’s masterpiece, Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Selling in impressive figures since its release, the game has earned praise from critics and fans alike, as well as a fair amount of
revenue for its publisher.
Taking the next two spots are two more The Sims titles with The Sims 3: Generations taking third place and the original, The Sims 3, selling enough to make it to the number two spot.
Whether a gamer likes the game or not, credit has to be given to The Sims 3 and EA as the game has been a consistent best seller in the charts for as long as one can remember. So, taking the top spot in its first week on the PC Charts is EA Sports’ long
awaited football simulation game, FIFA 12. One can expect the follow up to FIFA 11 to remain in the charts for quite some time to come.
