Question:

Did Fred Thompson just hit the long ball for Republicans?

I will start by asking anyone who doubts my bona fides to look to my own Q&A to see my allegiances, that said I have to say Fred Thompson did a nice job for the McCain camp tonight. If not a great actor, the guy is a skilled orator.

He took McCain's P.O.W. years and really turned them into a compelling tale. He also took the shots at the opposition you would expect.

So after that and the rest of the process what bounce will we see? I've followed the polls and also how they're conducted and I think they lack some serious considerations BUT (here's the caveat) that said Obama's bounce took him 6-8 points ahead, they polls also state that only about 8.5% percent are still undecided, so can McCain and the Republican party actually pick up EVERYONE tonight that's still now got their choice dialed in?

I think not, I also think the pollsters are sorely under estimating "probable" voters due to the marked increase in youth voter turn out since 2000 so how close is it going to get?

(Let's look back at 2000 and 2004

The 18 to 34 group voted at a rate of 16% higher in 2004 and this year the Dems have got one helluva lot of younger voters registered

  1. I liked the part where he burned Obama by saying "I'm not going to tax you. You don't have to worry unless you buy groceries, food, or clothing."

Thompson just sealed the deal on the presidency of McCain, and we haven't even gotten to the candidates yet!

  2. Once people realize how Obama plans to expand government programs they will come out in droves to vote against that. Young people still believe in government because they have yet to pay property, State, and federal taxes and still have not figured out that their professors are paid through taxes.

  3. Fred Thompson has always been a good speaker (I guess that's why he's an actor).  After the RNC bounce, Obama will probably still be a good 2-3 points ahead.  So McCain's got his work cut out for him...still a lot of time and a lot of debates left though.  Plenty of opportunities for swing voters to change their minds (either direction).

  4. Oh yes - a line drive foul ball.  Nothing new, just the same 'ol, same 'ol.  It was dull and grim.

  5. Nope...can't shoot pool with a rope.

  6. Do you know what militarism is?

In case you didn't realize it, that is pretty much what the so-called Republicans are supporting, Fred Thompson included.

just goes to show, right-wingers are too thick to heed Huckabee's advice.

See the problem is, right-wingers listen to talk-radio that misleads them into thinking that militarism + theocratic oligarchy = freedom.
