I read many stories about the NYPD having malfunctions and defects with their 19s and other personal stories from owners.

  1. I own one of these pistols, I have never had any issues with this sidearm.  I also own a Glock 22 that I use when I am on duty.  Both sidearms have performed perfectly.  However, I do know several friends that have reloaded their own ammunition and had sme trouble with the sidearm functioning properly.

I can tell you this though.  I used to work as a Machinist in a Gunsmith Shop, and the chambers on Glocks, H&K, Sig Sauer and Beretta are held to tighter tolerances than many others such as Ruger and Taurus.  This creates a situation where if the reloaded ammunition is as close to factory tolerances as possible, the pistols have a tendancy to jam, fail to extract, fail to eject or load.

In my case, I have only used new ammunition in my Glocks, and I have never had any issues.  I have had really good performance from mine, and I would tell you this.  I would definately trust mine to save my life should I need it.

Also, NYPD is not the best example for the Glock either.  NYPD has a requirement where they have to change the trigger pull weight.  This drastically effects the performance of these pistols.  They did this because their Officers are too stupid to keep their fingers off the darn trigger until they are really ready to shoot someone.

This is not to say they do not have some very fine Officers, but a decision to increase the trigger pull weight from 5.5 lbs to 10 lbs is just plain silly.  That tells me that a little more time in the academy on NRA Rule #2: Never place your finger on the trigger until you are ready to shoot.

In any event, I think you are going to make a very good choice in a sidearm.

    Good Luck and Happy Shooting

  2. I have not heard.  have heard there are many jam issues and Ipersonally fo not like the safety issue

  3. The only problems i've ever heard regarding 9mm Glocks is stovepipe jams, but 99.9% of the time that's from the owner limp-wristing.

  4. I have a 3rd Generation Glock 19 that runs flawlessly.

    No problems at all.

  5. Besides for rare kabooms in the .40 pistols.. The only other problem I know of was frame recalls. Supposedly guns with the serial numbers starting with E had an issue where the slide rails came off.

This issue was fixed a few years ago.

  6. I've owned four Glocks and still own three.  I've never had any kind of malfunction with my Glocks.  I've only heard stories of malfunctions with Glocks that occurred to the proverbial 'friend-of-a-friend's cousin twice removed.'

These stories have always been pretty bizarre and difficult to confirm. Like the story told early on about how Glocks weren't any good because a skilled martial arts expert could literally take the slide and barrel off a Glock before the person holding the Glock could get a shot off.

I actually viewed a video where some kind of super-duper Kung Fu seven-hundred degree black belt expert demonstrated this.  He actually did remove the Glock's slide & barrel while a second 'performer' was pointing the Glock at the martial arts expert!  No great feat when you know this:

In order to first disassemble a Glock and remove the slide/barrel you MUST PULL THE TRIGGER!  Which means the Glock used in this demonstration did not have a shell-in-the-chamber and the martial arts expert either knew that the trigger had already been pulled, or disassembled the Glock after the trigger was pulled knowing that there was no shell in the chamber!  See how trickery and sleight-of-hand can be used to deceive!

    Glocks are good guns.

  7. I have a Glock 19 and I have never had any problems. The only thing I have heard complaints about is the safety, which is the trigger on the Glock.  I like that my weapon. It is ready to go. I highly recommend the Glock 19.
