I believe other players in the field don't have a stinkin chance now. A Grand Slam awaits in the name of the Tiger.

  1. TW is IMHO the top professional athlete today. I'm sure he sees the media comments and controversies as mostly noise to be ignored.

TW's inner drive (pun intended) to succeed is a much bigger factor for his motivation than some media story.

Golf is a peculiar sport in that there isn't much room for 'anger'.

If anything else, I imagine that any player with a mindset of "I'll show them..." (them being the media, other players, ...) will actually do worse than staying calm...

  2. Tiger doesn't care. Tiger worries about Tiger. If he wins a Grand Slam, thats on him, not Kelly or Golfweek.

  3. He didn't take offense to Kelly's comment, Tiger and Kelly are good friends.  This incident didn't make Tiger a great player.

  4. maybe, just maybe....although I don't think he's been sleeping.

I was extremely appalled by the noose cover; the Tilghman comment just struck me as a dumb-but-not-ill-intentioned thing, but that cover was HORRID.   We should ALL be outraged and demand the editor's resignation!

And as far as Tiger goes...I dunno, but I don't think I"d be amused at the cover.

  5. What do you mean a "sleeping tiger?" The guy has been eating people alive for the past 6 months or so.  He is swinging better than he has in several years. He will have a great year, even by his standards, but it won't be because of this comment.

  6. Tiger is the most professional athlete ive ever witnessed. I dont even like him as a player, but as a person he does a great job handling adversity and I admire that.

  7. Tiger does not let this stuff into his head.

  8. Good question.  But this will only depend on whether or not Tiger is enraged by the "lyncn in the alley" comment or noose magazine cover.

Based on what he said in the media, he doesn't let this bother him.

I think his desire to win will energize him to earn a Grand Slam.
