Did Gov. Palin sell a jet on e-bay, or just try 3 times and fail?

She said she "placed" it on e-bay.

Did she "sell" it on e-bay?

Are we going to have to watch her words very close?

i heard the same thing you are saying on NPR this afternoon. it did not actually sell on ebay. it was a careful play on words.

She didn't get the 2.7 million she wanted but I think she got 2.1 million.

That is still 2.1 million she gave back to the state of Alaska.

Funny now she can fly in McCain's private jet!  I imagine it's probably worse trying to get around Alaska than it is Arizona, which is why Cindy has a plane.

She did put it on ebay and she did get rid of it, no more paying for fuel, insurance, pilots, maintenance, storage .....

That more than makes up for the loss.

don't no much about the airline business do you? In times of low fuel costs it would of sold very quickly. However with the high fuel costs not many companies can invest in a another plane.

You also have to look at the cost of owning a plane. Fuel, maintaining it, the staff to fly it. Basically it is a very expensive item to have, that keeps drawing money to it.

With maintenance and interest costs, it would have continued to cost several hundreds of thousands of dollars each year.  To keep it would have been more irresponsible.  The loss that occurred happened when the idiot before her purchased it in the first place.

IIRC it was listed on eBay a couple of times but the bidding never met reserve. It was sold later on to someone but not through eBay.

You added that it was sold "at a loss of around half a million dollars." That was not the point of the sale. The overall cost of keeping it for the sole purpose of flying around certain politicians in Alaska would have cost a lot more then just that "half a million dollars". So yes, there was a savings involved. Just not in the sale of the jet.

As far as "Are we going to have to watch her words very close?", why? What she said was a fact and what does it matter if it did not sell on eBay? It was sold overall and she was not lying about it. So what's the point?

Her first step in trying to sell it was to list it on eBay and that is what she said she did. She did not claim it sold on eBay. So how is that "speaking thourgh(?) the far right side of her hat"?

Yes she put it up for auction on ebay 3 times but didn't get the min offer she wanted.  It finally sold on some other site.  I'm not sure what your point is, she didn't lie, she said she put it on Ebay and she did 3 times to be exact.
