  1. Hello,

Prophet Mohammed (AS) never liked poetry, because he always follows the commands of Allah. And Allah (SWT) said:

    وَالشُّعَرَاء يَتَّبِعُهُمُ الْغَاوُونَ (26:224)

26:224 And as for the poets, those who are lost in grievous error would follow them.

    أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّهُمْ فِي كُلِّ وَادٍ يَهِيمُونَ (26:225)

26:225 Art thou not aware that they roam confusedly through all the valleys,

    وَأَنَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ مَا لَا يَفْعَلُونَ (26:226)

26:226 and that they say what they do not do?

References are quoted as (AlQuraan : its Aayaats)

Hope this may help. And May Allah guide us all towards the truth.

    Regards,

    Khan

  2. The entire quran is written in poetic form.  That alone shows his love of poetry.

  3. He sure did!

He wrote his own verses and enjoyed the verses of others.

He could be a pretty harsh critic of poetry however. He ordered a few poets killed because they annoyed him.

  4. Facts:

Muhammad’s uncle and aunt were most skeptical of Muhammad’s claim to be the prophet of Allah. Sura 111 is devoted to pronouncing a curse on them. As Islam grew in strength and engaged in wars for booty or conquest we find suras such as Nos. 2, 3, 8, etc., containing admonition to engage in war, rebuke for those failing to do so, and explanations for the outcome of certain battles.

An unpleasant rumor involved Muhammad’s favorite wife, Ayesha, in an affair with a young Muslim warrior. Sura 24 deals with this incident and condemns the scandalmongers. Muhammad was perplexed about marrying the divorced wife of his adopted son Zaid. Sura 33 grants him an exception so that he can marry her even though among the Arabs an adopted son was considered the same as one’s natural son and the Quran had forbidden the wife of one ever to become the wife of another.

  5. Dear

Surely Holy Prophet of Islam Muhammad Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam liked Poetry.

One of his followers Sahabi Hazrat Hassan bin Thabit Allah be pleased with him was a poet and he used to recite poetry in praise of Holy prophet peace be on him and he used to recite the poetry right in Masjid of Madina on the pulpit Minbar, by the permission of holy prophet peace be on him. (ref: Mushkat Shaerief book 2)

It is also said that Hazrat Ka'b bin Zubair Allah be pleased with him embraced Islam and presented a poetry in praise of Holy Prophet and he awarded him with his Burda shoulder cloth. This sacred cloth remained in his family untill Amir Muawiya purchased it from his children after Ka'b passing away and kept it as a valuable piece of sanctity. (Islamic History)

    To Dear Khans:

The Aayat e Quran you quoted are revealed against the Kaafireen Poets who used to tell lies and condemn Holy Prophet, where as Hazrat Hassan usede to say poetry to give a befitting answer to them in poetry.

We need to understand Holy Quran through Asbaab e Nuzool / Shaan e Nuzool. This is the problem today as they use the Quranic Aayats meant for Kuffar on the true believers of Islam.
