Scientific American magazine recently  had an article saying that they did.  Look it up at www.SciAm.com.  I forget what issue it was, though.

i don't think we'll ever know. i was just watching a special a couple of days ago and those 'experts' claim that they theorize that they did not interbred. the reason being, neanderthals were a different breed and would not have been able to interbreed with homosapiens.

Their dna has not shown up in any dna tests on modern man thus far,so it seems unlikely

I think it was more a theory then a definative conclusion...

that is one of the possible explanations for the disappearance of the Neanderthals.   I think it's more likely then they died out.
