  1. Law isn't respected by Universities AT ALL

i want to be a lawyer and was considering it for A level but got told that If you are taking Law as your Uni course then they basically have to start teaching you from scratch again and it bears no relevance to the actual course you will do

BTW, stop asking questions about your education, you are young, live life, and it's getting pretty annoying. Chill, you sound like a bore :|

Also, business studies isn't usefull, and is listed as a "soft" A level (eg, an easy one, not respected by universities) same with Economics :S

The only decent one you've got there is English Lit..

But i saw your GCSE results (you posted it in another question :|) and you don't have the grades to be a Lawyer sorry, the world of Law is so competitive, you will be up against people who have gotten all A's and A*

sorry, but Bs and Cs aren't really good enough.. unless you REALLY pull your act together with A levels, but those subjects suck....

  2. Mathemathics, though a subject not liked by most students, relates to every subject we are likely to study and work with in the future.  Your chocie of subjects can all provide you a career, but that depends on how much you like either.  Mastery of any of them could lead to a brilliant career.  Good luck and have fun with your studies. Great subject choices for a budding lawyer.

  3. I can understand why you question why you need mathematics at A-level. However Oxford in general likes their students to have good numeracy and literacy skills.

If I were you I would apply, you never know, they may really like you in the interview and the personal statement. Plus I think the subjects you have chosen are fine but if you can, I would swap Economics or Business studies for Maths, to make them happy and improve your chances.  :-)

    Hope this helps, good luck.

  4. The website actually says GCSE maths and law and business studies don't appear to be well respected by universities so I would look at changing those.

  5. good job young man
