Without anyone knowing I had been shaving in sixth grade with just water with the same razor for almost a year! Then, for a few months I read online that you could shave with conditioner,so that's all I used. So finally I talked to my mom about shaving like two years later and she gave me a new razor and shaving gel (she thought it was my first time). Now I'm afraid all those years shaving with water has caused damage or something. Now when I shave with gel I still can't get a close shave, the hair grows really fast, and I have little stubbys! Did I cause damage to my underarms and legs? Please help! Also any suggestions? Thanks! :)

  1. you probally didnt damage ur self you just have some irratation but it is very important to use new razors

  2. haha, no hun you didn't cause any damage.

i started shaving in 5th grade without anyone knowing, WITH MY DADS RAZOR lmfao! and i'm a freshman now :/

and now my hair grows back real fast.

but it's just like men. teen guys will shave their faces and hair wont grow back for like 3-4 days. but then a grown man. hair will grow back by the next morning.

    that's just how things work.

    but your fine.

and hey you can shave with conditioner, sweet. i use waterr.

i feel like it works better.

and i suggest you don't use gell. it's thick and that's probably why your now getting a close shave. use shaving CREAM. in my opinion it works better. and use the venus razor. i love it and it's perfect :D

  3. You may have caused some irritation, but it's nothing you can't fix. For the stubbies, Aveeno makes a lotion called Positively Smooth. If used consistently over time, it helps to reduce the rate of the re-growth. It won't happen over night, but in time your stubbies should be more fine, and grow in more slowly. You can use it on your legs and under your arms. If you are experiencing bumps or irritation, use an alpha-hydroxy acid once a day as well. And drink lots of water. I know it's cliche, but it really does help all of your skin stay healthy..

And only bring your razor into the bath when you're going to use it. If you keep it in such a moist, humid area, bacteria can grow. Pour rubbing alcohol over it after each use, allow it to air dry. And only use it for 3-4 shaves at the most.

  4. No you didn't do any damage.  The worst you could have done not using shaving gel is to cut yourself.

  5. I don't seen how a razor lasted than long. they get dull pretty quickly. anyway no you didn't do any harm. I almost never use any sort of shave gels or creams or anything. I've been shaving my legs this way for over 10 years without problems. I don't have damaged skin or anything. I happen to have really fine hair, not the thick stubble. the gels add some skin protection and prevent cuts/razor burn. Thats their main purpose but they prevent you from getting a close shave. I use a moisturising lotion after I shave.  don't worry. if you want a closer shave skin the gel.

  6. it depends what kind of razor you use.

  7. Hii there,

Why don't you go and talk to your mom and tell her about this anyways? Because she should know but don't worry about shaving with water! I mean, it doesn't do any damage because I've used just water before. And hair that grows quickly and stubby; that's normal. Alot of girls have stubby hairs and hair that grows fast. If you want you could use a hair removal cream that'll leave it smooth and shaven for longer than using a razor. So you'll be okay! Don't worry.

    Hope that helped.
