  1. I am sure you have learned the rule of thumb - inches per gallon. At first they were probably  bit cramped, but it sounds like your becoming very good at fish keeping.

  2. wow thats a ton of fish for a 10 gallon.

  3. we all make mistakes at first. my first proper tank was an 18g with 3 angelfish, 2 clown loaches and 6 neon tetras. now THAT was bad. my sister tried keeping a common pleco and two swordtails in a bowl. needless to say, she was shocked when i explained why they all died.

you didn't do as bad as i did, but there were some things you shouldn't try again, the first being the plecos. not always, but i have found that sometimes, once grown a bit, some plecos can become territorial unless in a rather large tank. angelfish really should be kept in much larger tanks. the mollies are fine. i need more info on the algae eaters. some could be fine, others could potentially kill all your fish, such as older siamese algae eaters. the blue tetra really should be kept in shoals of 4-6 or more, and may have been eaten by the angelfish, but you needn't have worried about that until the angel was of a descent size. the platies would have been fine. the last problem i can think of is that your tank was pretty overstocked.

sorry to hear about the outbreak of ich!

good luck with the new tank :)

  4. Guppies and platties do not grow very large, the guppies only grow to about an inch long and the platties grow to about an inch and a half. The pleco if it is a common pleco can get to be over 18 inches long.

Angelfish should have 10 gallons of water per fish.Mollies can get to be up to 6 inches but most don't get to be over 4 inches long.Chinese algae eaters can get t be over 6 inches long and can become very aggressive if that is the kind that you had. For that number and kind of fish I would say that they should have had at least a 75 gallon tank to grow properly. You are not the first one t make these mistakes and will not be the last so don't feel bad abut these beginners mistakes.
