I ran the mile run the other day (4 laps around a high school sized track) and got 8:14. Is that good, and would I be good for track. Constructive criticism needed. thanks :]

  1. well that sounds pretty good to me, especially for first time!! thats about how fast i go, but i just jog a few miles for fun, i'm not serious or anything. once you start training you'll probably be great - keep going and good luck:)

  2. how old are you if you are in hight school or middle school that is not all that good i am going in to middle school and i do it in 7:00min

  3. Truthfully, it's pretty mediocre. If you just started though, I would say not too bad! I used to run 8 minute miles, but then I got it down to 7 minutes, eventually running 2 miles in 14 minutes. You need to become dedicated to running, but enjoy it! Run at least 3 days a week and increase your mileage. Have fun! I'm sure with more practice, you will definitely make the track team!

  4. for a beginner, very good

i would consider running cross country this season,

it will help your time a ton!

    good luck!

  5. Its not good really...but idk if you run often. If you were to run track where I live you would get last every single race and it wouldn't be a close finish for 2nd to last. But  all you have to do is keep on running and practice and your times will drop. Just keep it up and you'll see results. Good Luck.

  6. To be honest.....Not very good. But don't worry, I was the same. In 7th grade my fastest was a 7:05 and I almost quit. But the next year I came back and ran a 5:42. Now I'm a junior and I'm running 5:18s. You just have to push yourself at practice and stay with the front of the pack. My technique in a race is to start at a comfortable pace(not to slow) and on the last two laps really push myself faster. But good luck and practice hard!
