Did I get a good Deal on my 2000 Focus SE?

I want some opinion on the decision I made to purchase my Focus.

I bought the car which had 120,000 and was in need of a new enginge . The rest of the car besides the enginge worked great upon driving it (engine knocked in low gears). I ended up fnding an engine and transmission for 750 dollars that a guy wanted to unload (only 25,000 miles on it) (Was my brothers friend) because his car was totaled besides the engine. I then payed my mechanic friend 600 to install.

So bacically I have a 2000 Ford Forcus SE (120,000) ,but runs great, whith a 25,000 mile engine and tranny and I got it for 2800 in all?

I did research on the 2000 Ford Focus being the first model in the usa and I new about the recalled parts. The reason I bought it was because the guy I bought it from was actually a mechanic for the dealership. He kept up with all of the recalls and basic maintenence really well.

Good deal or bad deal?

Wasn't some person that just "put gas in it"

  1. Just checked autotrader.com and for the 2000 Focus SE w/ about 120,000 miles on it, people are asking $2,900 - $3,200 in my area.  However, yours has a newer motor and transmission so overall I'd say you probably have a car worth about $3,600 so a pretty solid deal for you!

  2. Sounds like you "stole" it.  You have a great car, that you choose to have, with all the benefit of a low initial outlay.

No matter what you do, cars will constantly devalue (yes, few CAN be treated as an investment, but not a daily driver investment).

So, Great job, you will love it, and the price was abviously worth the extra effort to marry up the engine to the vehicle and make an excellent ride!

  3. Man, i have got a great deal on it, considering the fact that usually u  would have paid about 3 or 4 grand for the 120K focus, but instead u have got a focus w ONLY 25000 miles on it for even cheaper price. Yeah, it probably took a little bit of work and time to get it fixed up but u deff saved a lot of money, Good for you

  4. I believe you got a deal seeing you did your research. I have a 2000 ZX3 focus and love it . I get 28-30 mpg...and has 93000 miles on it. You have a great little car and it will not be disapointed in it. Enjoy and have fun.
