Question:

Did I have a seizure or was it just severe dizziness?

I visited a science park with my family at the weekend. One of the exhibits was a special chair - you sat down, spun yourself round a few times, then bent and straightened your legs to change your speed. The first time I did it, I was totally fine, just a bit dizzy from spinning. However, my uncle then decided it would be funny to spin me as fast as he could. He spun me for several minutes and I think I lost consciousness. Luckily, my cousin videoed it as I have no memory of it. I slumped down in the chair and then when someone realised and jumped in to stop the chair my back arched, I went rigid and my eyes rolled back into my head. This lasted for about 30 seconds before I came round. I was very disorientated and couldn't walk or even sit up. Was it just dizziness or should I be worried?

  1. This sounds much like a seizure.  My mother is unable to go on any fair rides as she will have seizures like this.  If you went unconscious and don't remember things that happened then I'd say you have a 95% chance of a seizure.

Rest assured however, this doesn't definatly mean you are epileptic.  Sometimes people have seizures for other reasons, such as medications, illnesses etc.  Your best bet is to see a doctor, they will be able to scan your head and give you more detailed information.

  2. I think I would talk to talk to your doctor.. does not sound to me  like you were just dizzy.. please call your doctor and see if they can see you.. good luck.............

  3. spinning like that CAN cause seizures.  and from what you described, it sounds like a seizure to me!  call your doctor right away.  also, make sure he sees the video so he knows exactly what happened, since you lost consciousness.  don't be worried now, as many people have a seizure nad then never have another one.  hopefully this is the situation.
