Question:

Did I hurt my climbing roses?

We just purchased a home last November that had climbing roses going up the side of the house to the roof...a good 20 feet safely.

I pruned them earlier this spring and noticed a great difference so I decided to cut back some more. I figured they hadn't been done in quite some time and they were really overgrown so I chopped some old wood to about 3 feet and hacked away at everything else bringing it down to about 6 feet.

  3. Pruning them should not hurt them. They will grow back in no time.

I transplanted two roses that were my mothers. They were mowed down so many times, no one remembered them being there. Now they are full size plants again.
