Did I kill the mother duck??

Question

I was playing golf with a couple of friends, I was trying to drive the ball to the green by crossing over a water hazard, the ball didnt make it, it landed in the reeds at the edge of the hazard, whe heard a squack, some thrashing, and then nothing, when we walked up to see what I had hit we saw a adult duck hanging its head in the water, not moving, and about 6 little ducklings swiming around her.

is there any chance the mother lived through it??

(we just left them where they were)

no,please don't killed that mother duck.becase when you killed that mother duck then her little ducklings become alone.

maybe. the golf ball hit hard to that duck. people can die also with a golf ball, depending on how hard he was hit.

Well i supposed you did and you may have killed the duck because i human can be killed with a punch only on if it's hard enough but ducklings are clingy so the will attach to the next duck...if not eaten by a predator first.

It doesn't sound promising, ducks can't breathe underwater so if she couldn't lift her head then I doubt that she survived. :(

The ducklings should be able to feed themselves, but unless father duck looks after them (which depends on what species of duck they are) they are at risk of being eaten by predators and might appreciate some human help.

If you are able to go back and catch them there is probably a wildlife carer in your area who can look after them.  If not maybe you could phone the people at the golf course and let them know that there are some orphaned ducklings on their course, they might be able to organise some way of helping them.

The ball must have injured one of its limbs because ducks don't sink into the water.I wish you had lifted it up to see how severer the damage was.

But i strongly feel that it will live.That is if there are no wild carnivores animals around.

iF ANY ANIMAL OR PREDATOR NOTICES THIS IT WILL ATACK AND THE MOTHER WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO PROTECT HERSELF OR HER DUCKLINGS! on the bright side take the cute little ducklings home!

it depends on how hard she got hit.  you should have notified someone at the golf course.  they could have gotten her help.

noo, u hadn't kill her with ur wish it was just an acident just say sorry to godd i know u'll be feeling bad . but  think positive may be u don't kill her check and see whether he is alive or not if she is enjoy then if not  but i say she is fine may be she had some injury but not dead
