Ok I am starting my sophmore year of college at West Virginia University (WVU) as a transfer student. The campus is very nice with alot to offer. Academically the school has some very good programs social work, forensic science, and criminal justice just a few to name. WVU's athletic teams are also solid. The only problem I have is a huge portion of the student body is insane, parties every where I have already been drunk every night since moving to Morgantown any other college students or former students out there that have any advice on how to seperate alcohol from academics please tell me.

  1. Self discipline.  You are an adult now and need to learn to separate the play with the work.  Kids have some intelligence to get into college but being away from home for the first time clouds the judgment and they end up flunking out.  Need to balance things.  College is a great time but it's not a right.  You can play but remember in order to continue to play you have to do the work.  Otherwise they won't hesitate to toss you out.  You are a 'number' in college so all they look at is the academics.  It's all a game and you need to know the rules or you will lose.  Good luck.

  2. you shouldn't try avoiding having fun with your friends in college, but you need to find a balance. i always try to finish all of my work before the weekend so i can party. that way, i don't have to worry about trying to get things done when all of my friends are out. make a schedule for doing your homework and studying, and maybe try to get a friend to help you study and stay on track. good luck.

  3. Just try to stay away from the party scene because I've seen many students get kicked out because they do not go to class and they party all of the time. Think about how the partying will affect your academic progress. It isn't worth it to party right now and not have an education later. I'm not saying you shouldn't party once in a while, but if you get invited to a party, just try your best to say no and focus on your studies.
