Did I make the right GCSE choices?

I chose

History

Latin

German

Art

Compulsory:

English

English lit

Maths (IGCSE)

Double Science

French

Other options:

Spanish

Ancient Greek

Geography

Russian

Italian

I would like to do something like Economics, History, French and German (AS), With maybe chemistry (AS)

I want to go to Oxford to study Law.

Should I change one of them? With the art I thought that I was doing lots of academic subjects already so art would be a good break in the timetable?? Also, the art department is really slack about everything, you go round eating biscuits, listneing to your ipod and drinkning tea, BLISS

What do you think?

  1. I think that sounds great!

And I would love to go to your school!

The only options I had were Spanish and French for languages (which is what I chose)!!

And we only have two options since we had to do IT, RE and a technology subject

Isn't there IT or a computer based subject you can do as that is what most jobs require?

If there is take that instead of History as you don't need a History GCSE for AS Level

Or if you are not interested in persuing Art at college replace that with IT or something more valuable to employers and colleges like another language (Cambridge and Oxford always seem to want Ancient Greek for language courses)

And with the Languages you could always study European Law

Did I mention your school sounds great?

    Hope this helps

  2. only you can decide on the right choices. if you enjoy the subjects then go for them. by the way i took HISTORY - GEOGRAPHY - MEDIA STUDIES - AND DRAMA. Plus all of the compulsories obviously. have fun in year 10!

  3. Sounds good to me!

You KNOW you need top grades, as well as real character, to make the grade for Oxford!

  4. That sounds great to me.

If you want to study law, history is pretty important.

Having three languages is also VERY beneficial whatever college or university you want to go to (presuming you pass with good marks, or course =P) especially Latin, because it is percieved as being very good.

It won't really matter that you've taken art as a bit of a dossy subject. I did that too, with textiles. Nobody will expect you to take four completely academic subjects when all your compulsary subjects are acedemic too.

Sounds like you've made really good choices.

Just so long as you try hard to do well in lessons and you get good grades then you're good to go =D

Especially since your school has some really good options. Mine seem pretty boring in comparison! I took:

Geography, French, Textiles and Triple Science. Compulsary was Maths, RS, English lang and English lit. I think I've forgotten something though XD

    Good luck with your GCSEs!
