Question:

Did I make the right choice?

I started a bachelors degree in science in university and completed one semester which my father funded for. Upon commencing my second semester I was told that my father was under tight financial pressure and could not pay for my tuition fees anymore. Therefore, without a choice, I had to drop out of uni even though attending uni and carving out a career was my goal. I consulted an immigration lawyer about this as I am an international student studying in Australia. He asked me to do a TAFE course in Hospitality Management (Commercial Cookery) because (1) the fees are much much much lower than uni (2) an easy way to get the PR and go back to uni as a resident paying half the fees. I obliged and now am applying to TAFE colleges. Was this a good move by me?

  1. What school do you go to? And do you qualify for aid/ scholarships? Such as your grade average, etc..

I'm pretty sure you could qualify for some type aid or you could try a loan. It is a waste of time to then later come back and try to complete it. I don't think anyone should be left behind just because of their personal problems.
