Question:

Did I make the right decision for my budgies??

I went on vacation to Asia and bought 4 budgies. I noticed that my family living there teased the budgies and hit the cage to scare them, so one night I brought the budgies to a beautiful place with trees and flowers and let them free. In case they couldn't find food I left 3 big bags of bird seeds. I would bring them back with me, but I didn't because of bird flu and such. Do you think the decision I made was right? Im back at home in North America now. I've also noticed that the birds always stayed in that beautiful place I left them in and they're still babies.

  1. yes.that was the right choice.you made them happy (er)and now they don't have peple banging on theyr cage and thety yprobably don't feel crowded anymore.good job@!and im sorry for you to have to let them go.

  2. They're domesticated. Congratulations, thanks to you they'll *DIE* a painfully slow death now (starvation, or HALF-eaten by a cat and left to die)

  3. Well,do you think you did the right thing??

You may have left food for them but? the local bird life and vermin will also thank you for your offering, along with possible predators.

Did you not think of what could happen to those young birds?

Finally the owners could possibly catch them and return them to their cage and the torment would start all over again!!!!!!

  4. I'm not sure that was very smart. Why buy the birds if you werent going 2 take them home????

  5. First of, 'birds' are meant to be free. That's what the wings are for. Second, they will survive. They're birds not pets but people make them as 'pets'. Last but not least, you did the right thing.

P.s. even if they were hand fed babies, they still have the bird instincts in them.

  6. .............

  7. Don't you know the difference between pet and wild animal? If I was you I just give them back to place that sell them. Poor Budgies, I will pray for them.

I agreed bird should be free, that is why you shouldn't buy it, in the first place. And, they won't catch it in the first place. But, I doubt those born in captivity can survive.

  8. No you should have kept them.  They may not make it in the wild.  You were very wrong, and I am sorry to tell you this.

  10. Yes I believe you did the right thing.  Don't worry...

  11. what the heck is a budgie? it sounds like you made the right decision. I'm sure they will be just fine and most likely better off!

  12. as long as there is food and trees. and water!

they know how to live in the outdoors

  13. You did all that you could do. Don't feel guilty about setting them free, alot of people would have made the same decision if they were in your position. I'm sure that the birds are fine, but if even if they are not, remember this: At least they lived there lives in a happy, natural place rather than a stressful enviornment where they get teased and tormented.

  14. They won't know how to find food in the wild. ;_;

Poor budgies, since they've lived in captivity, they kinda forgot about all their natural instincts to survive, since they didn't need them.

They might starve once the bird seed is gone.. I don't know for sure, though.
