Did I mess up my chance to conceive?

My husband and I are TTC. This is the first month that I have charted. I usually have a 28 day cycle, but in July it was a 26 day cycle . According to the ovulation predictor, I shoud have ovualted on the 6th . But all the signs like the CM showed that I was most fertile on the 1st? I went by my body...did I mess up our chances this month.

No you did not mess up your chances. The ovulation predictor is a nice tool but it is not totally accurate. You may actually ovulate at different times during the month. The predictor will give you the same answer everytime despite the fact that your body has a mind os it's own. The calculator will give you the date that is 2 weeks before your next period but if you are anything like me that is not true. There have been many times that I have ovulated almost 3 weeks before my next period was due. ( I am on a 31 day cycle)

I guess what I am saying is that the predictor is fun but following your body is way more accurate. If you listen hard enough your body will prep you and tell you when. Another handy tool is the ovulation predictor kit. You can buy them at the drug store for about $20. I used it last cycle and I think it might have really helped. I have the same concerns.  I'm having a really hard time charting this stuff because it is so different all the time.  I don't know if it's because I am no longer taking birth control and it is messing my periods all up but I also have been going by the signs my body gives me.  I wouldn't worry about it too much.  I was reading that if you do the baby dance every other night that it would help increase your chances of pregnancy because you will definately hit your ovulation days that way and it doesn't effect the sperm count of the male. (that's one easy way of doing it without keeping track of everything)  good luck!

just to be safe you should have s*x every other day or close to that and that way you will have greater chances of hitting it just right.
