Hello, I'm too sad.

Since 2003 to march of this year, I used to run everyday about 5 miles, the only days I wouldn't run were those days when I was extremelly sad or when the temperatures were extremelly low, these days combined were approximately 30 days in all those 5 years. I really enjoyed running everyday at least 5 miles.

However, since march of this year, things changed, I started to experience a pain in the muscles of my upper legs, the pain is kind of strong, specially if I run over 3 miles. I stoped running for about 2 weeks, and no results, I was forced to decrease my running distance to 2.5 miles, and even so, whe I'm done I kind of feel that pain, is an ugly pain, which doesn't allow me to keep on. I want this pain to go away, what should I do? did I mess up my legs by running everyday for 5 years? have you ever experienced something like this? do you know of any medicaments or something? please if you know something about this, tell me anything.

thanks.

  1. Yes, you should see a doc, that sounds bad. Running 5 mi everday is not a good idea. It is important for your body to rest, recoupe after your body works that hard.

  2. you need to see a doc...my xc coach was an awesome distance runner but what he didn't know almost cost him his running career in high school and has now cost him running for the rest of his life(in high school he found out that he was over compensating on one leg because it was longer then the other crating stress fractures on after the other but he caught that in time...now he can't run because he had this build up of gunk under his knee cap and caused it to become less effective in its full motion and the damage is irrepairable...i really don' think you caused this injury by running because you have always apparently run smart...i just think your leg has a problem similar to my coach's and you shouldn't definately get it checked...hope this helps
