Question:

Did I not do something right with my Iguana?

I just had an Iguana die today, it was 4 - 4 1/2 years old. Her skin looked like she was going to lay eggs, however she didn't get a chance to. Did I mess up on something, and not do something I should have? Last time she laid them in the bed, but this time I think the eggs might have gotten stuck while she was trying to push them out. I have seen that Iguanas are supposed to live up to 20 years, what did I do wrong?

  1. yes she probaly died trying to push the eggs out

  2. Did you not see any changes in her bahavior?  I have read that the most common cause of egg binding in iguanas is from lack of exercise.  If it were mine I would take her to a vet and have them find out why she died to make sure it wasnt something bacterial incase you want to get other reptiles in the future.

  3. Yeah it really sounds like she died dooring labor

    Good Luck:)
