Question:

Did I ruin my ceiling fan?

I replaced the switches for the fan, the fan turned worked (blades moved). I replaced the fan light switch and now nothing works. I think I have the correct wiring now for the lights but still nothing works.

Is it normal if the light is wired incorrect then the whole thing won't work or should the blades still move

but there will be no light?

  1. Anything can happen including setting fire to the switch. You do not have the correct wiring. Unless you can compare it to a fan light switch in another room you must call an electrician.

Draw a wiring diagram of the switches, fan motor and light. Include the correct colour wires in your diagram. Use the proper electrical symbols.  If you can do this, maybe someone can tell you what is wrong

  2. first i must ask why you changed the switches? I'm assuming there was a problem to begin with i"m going to suggest you take the entire assembly down(again) and recheck all your connections ,there must be a missed or improper or just a loose connection then check your breaker box to make sure all is sound too ! okay now after reading your other question i see your talking about the wall switches (not the actual ones on the fan) go to this old houses' website for the correct installation of a 3-way! good luck
