Between 1970 and 1980, the population of the city increased by 35,000 people. The amount of increase between 1980 and 1990 was 8,000 more than the amount of increase between 1970 and 1980. What was the total amount of population increase from 1970 to 1990?

I got 8,000 as my answer. Am I correct?

    if from 80-90 there was 35000

    minus 8000 from 70-80 which is 27000

    so add both decades i get 62000

    nvmd it it 78000

    if from 80-90 there was 35000 and 8000 more from 70-80

    add 35+35+8

    78000

    1980-1990 = 35000 + 8000

    1970-1990 = 43000 + 35000

    1970-1990 = 78000
