I heard that his father arranged for him to get released from his torture and captivity, is that true?

  1. actually his father was a high ranking admiral in the navy and

    his captors found this out and offered to release him. he refused and that made them really mad and stepped up the torture. ya, it's true.


  2. Yes. John Mccains father was a high ranking military officer and had arranged for John to be freed. However, John refused to be released out of turn believing that it was wrong for his father to place his welfare ahead of those who were captured before he was. And so possibly expediting the release of those who were with him in captivity.
